Bugs in the current release of Mesquite

Bugs in Mesquite 1.04:

23 September 2004 — There is a bug in Mesquite's Brownian motion simulations of continuous character evolution, discovered by Michel Laurin. Brownian motion puts more change on long branches, less change on short branches. The bug in Mesquite's simulations causes this contrast between long and short branches to be heightened: long branches have more change relative to short branches than they should.

We will release a version 1.05 to fix this bug soon. If you have published a paper using these simulations we'd very much like to hear from you to help you figure out whether it made any difference to your results.
