This file shows a comparison between two continuous-valued characters, metabolic rate and sprint speed. (The data matrix is at lower left.)

At the upper right is a chart of Felsenstein's contrasts calculated for the two characters on the tree above left. Each point in the chart represents a node, numbered according to node numbers (you can see node numbers in the tree window using the Node Numbers menu item). The point for node 19 is being touched, and a corresponding label appears in the tree window. The points are colored according to standard deviation calculated from branch lengths (red = low, violet = high)

The chart is updated automatically if the tree above left is changed, for instance by changing branch lengths using the ruler tool, or by rearranging branches. It is also changed if the data matrix is altered.
